The Ask
To transform an unfinished, unused basement into an elegant yet inviting extension of the home. The vision was a French-inspired space that felt warm, open, and cozy while supporting entertaining and everyday use. Key priorities included creating generous gathering areas, a gym, a kitchenette, and a distinctive under-stair wine nook, along with durable finishes that could withstand daily use. The client also wanted the design to reflect their love of travel by incorporating vintage pieces and collected souvenirs in a way that felt intentional and refined.
The Result
A sophisticated, welcoming retreat that blends French-inspired elegance with modern functionality. An open layout creates a warm, cohesive environment for hosting and relaxing, while thoughtfully defined zones allow the space to transition seamlessly between entertaining, fitness, and daily living. The kitchenette and under-stair wine nook add character and convenience, giving the basement a sense of permanence and purpose. Vintage accents and travel mementos are woven throughout, lending personality and story to the design. Anchored by a durable epoxy floor and layered with warm materials and lighting, the space now feels polished, comfortable, and effortlessly usable—transforming what was once empty square footage into one of the home’s most cherished destinations.
